ABSTRACT: This study analyzes how urban youth in Chengdu, China, experiences and expresses family and cultural identity through the Spring Festival, in the context of modernization, globalization, and the increasing use of technology and social media. By conducting in-depth interviews with 10 participants, the study investigates how traditional customs coexist with modern adaptations like digital celebrations. The findings reveal that although modernization has transformed certain Spring Festival practices, the festival continues to serve as a vital period for strengthening family ties and reinforcing cultural identity. The study underscores the significance of integrating modern technologies with traditional values to preserve cultural heritage while catering to the evolving lifestyles of urban youth.
