ABSTRACT: Reading is an important way for people to obtain information. The improvement of reading ability is the key to English learning. In order to improve English reading teaching effectiveness, a new teaching mode called PAD (Presentation-Assimilation-Discussion) class is adopted. In this paper, the author focuses on the application of PAD class in college English reading instruction: reconstruction of teaching material, fostering analytical reading competence and formative assessment in college English reading context.
