Book Publishing Guidelines
Scientific Research Publishing (SCIRP) provides book publishing services for scholars, editors, and research teams. We support academic works through proposal review, peer review, production, online publication, and promotion. Our goal is to publish high-quality books efficiently while offering competitive publishing terms for authors and editors.
Book Types We Publish
- Monographs: In-depth scholarly works that present original research, a sustained argument, or a comprehensive treatment of a specialized subject. Monographs may be written by a single author or by a small team with a unified structure and clear academic contribution.
- Doctoral Theses: Revised doctoral dissertations prepared for wider academic readership. Submitted theses should be adapted into book form with clear organization, polished language, updated references where needed, and content suitable for publication beyond the degree-awarding institution.
- Edited Volumes: Thematic collections of chapters contributed by multiple authors and coordinated by one or more editors. Edited volumes should have a clear scope, consistent editorial standards, and chapters that collectively address an active research topic or professional field.
- Translations: Scholarly, technical, or professional works prepared for readers in another language. Translation proposals should identify the original work, target language, rights or permissions status, and the academic or professional value of making the work available to a new audience.
- Textbooks: Teaching-focused books designed for courses, training programs, or structured self-study. Textbooks should present material clearly, support learning objectives, and may include examples, exercises, references, case studies, or other instructional features.
- Personal Essays: Reflective nonfiction works with intellectual, cultural, professional, or social value. Personal essays should offer coherent themes, thoughtful analysis, and writing quality suitable for readers beyond a private or informal audience.
- Biographies & Memoirs: Life stories, professional reflections, historical narratives, or memoirs that document meaningful personal, academic, cultural, or social experience. These works should be written with clear purpose, factual care, and relevance for a broader readership.
Submission Policy
Manuscripts submitted to SCIRP must contain original material. The submitted manuscript, or any translation of it, must not have been published previously and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submissions that violate these requirements may be rejected without further review.
SCIRP publishes books in English and may consider books in other languages. For questions about language options or manuscript suitability, please contact book@scirp.org.
Publishing Models
-
Open Access Model (Recommended): Authors pay a publishing fee of USD 1,650 for a book within 200 pages. Under this model, the entire book is freely available online for all visitors to read and download, including every individual chapter. Open Access removes price barriers for readers, making the book easier to share, cite, assign in courses, and discover through online channels. It is especially suitable for scholarly works that aim to reach a wide international audience, support public access to research, and increase long-term visibility and impact in the research community.
-
Traditional Model: Authors pay a publishing fee of USD 1,600 for a book within 200 pages. Under this model, the full e-book and printed copies are sold at listed prices instead of being freely available for full download. After publication, the book, including paperback and e-book formats, will be available for purchase on our official website, Amazon, Google Play, and other channels. This model is suitable for authors who prefer a sales-based publishing approach, want their book distributed through commercial book channels, and wish to receive royalties from eligible book sales according to the publishing agreement.
For both publishing models, additional pages beyond 200 pages are charged at USD 8 per page. The final publishing terms, royalty arrangements, formats, and distribution details are confirmed in the publishing agreement before production begins.
Publishing Procedure
- Send us three documents: your CV, a completed Publication Proposal Form (Download), and the first chapter of your book. The initial evaluation usually takes about one week.
- If the proposal passes the initial evaluation, SCIRP will arrange a more detailed review by relevant reviewers. This stage usually takes about one month. After the review comments are received, SCIRP will make a final decision on whether to approve the book for publication.
- If the book is approved, SCIRP and the author or editor will discuss and sign a publishing agreement.
- After the agreement is signed, the author or editor pays the publishing fee according to the length and scope of the book. Once payment is received, SCIRP begins typesetting, proofreading, and production.
- SCIRP publishes the book and promotes it through available marketing and distribution channels.
Peer Review
Manuscripts submitted to SCIRP are reviewed carefully before publication. The editorial office coordinates peer review, collects reviewer comments, and asks authors or editors to revise the manuscript when necessary. Additional review may be arranged after revision. The Editorial Board makes the publication decision based on the reviewers' comments and the quality of the revised manuscript.
Authors' Rights and Royalties
SCIRP is committed to protecting authors' rights and addressing copyright and legal requirements clearly. Authors and editors retain the rights defined in the publishing agreement. Authors or editors of books published by SCIRP may receive royalties according to book sales and the terms of the agreement.
Publication Ethics
SCIRP is committed to rigorous peer review and ethical publishing standards. We take plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and other forms of publication misconduct seriously. Submissions that violate ethical standards may be rejected, corrected, or withdrawn according to the circumstances.
