ABSTRACT: The objective of this research is to analyze the effect of fintech on the living conditions of households in the WAEMU zone based on the principles of spatial econometrics. Our study covers the period from 2011 to 2021. After detecting spatial autocorrelation, the information criteria of Akaike and Schwarz indicate that a Spatial Error Model (SEM) should be used. The results show that fintech has a positive effect on the living conditions of households in the WAEMU zone. In other words, fintech improves the living conditions of households in the WAEMU zone. In terms of economic policy implications, the study suggests that the authorities strengthen digital infrastructure and improve the quality of institutions while promoting a better regulatory framework.
