ABSTRACT: Organizations today face the dual challenge of digital transformation and sustainability imperatives, yet information systems research has often treated these domains unevenly. This study introduces the concept of “similarity transformation” to describe the mutually reinforcing relationship between digital and sustainability transformations. Grounded in dynamic capability theory, the research examines how organizations can develop the necessary skills to align these two strategic priorities. Using qualitative interviews with leaders experienced in managing both types of change, we construct a capacity framework that identifies key dynamic capabilities for successful similarity transformation. The findings offer practical guidance for organizations and a conceptual foundation for future research on integrated transformation strategies.
