ABSTRACT: The study proposes a backstepping controller that omits cubic (third-order) terms to suppress chaotic motion in a two-state symmetric gyroscope. A Lyapunov-based proof claims global asymptotic stability, and numerical simulations illustrate state convergence under the new law of control and Lyapunov stability of theory respectively. The work aims to reduce controller complexity compared with earlier designs that retained third-order terms. A rigorous analysis shows that the controller will converge asymptotically. Numerical simulations are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed backstepping controller design.
