ABSTRACT: Chinese is a typical isolating language, and its script and tone system have great learning difficulties for non-native learners; English, as a typical flexion language, is rich in vocabulary morphology and simple in letter writing, which provides a more intuitive learning path for learners. In this paper, we start with the two learning strategies of Chinese and English as a second language and make a comparative analysis of cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies, respectively. Finally, it summarizes the similarities and differences between Chinese and English in acquisition and provides targeted guidance for language teachers and language learners, with a view to promoting the exchange and integration of Chinese and English languages and cultures and contributing to the construction of a diversified and inclusive world language environment.
