ABSTRACT: Superior mesenteric vein thrombosis (SMVT) is a rare medical and surgical emergency. The majority of the patients present with non-specific signs and symptoms that include non-specific abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or hematochezia, which leads to the disease being overlooked even in acute settings. We present a case of SMVT in a young female heterozygous for factor V Leiden with associated risk factors that lead to a timely diagnosis with good outcomes.
