ABSTRACT: This study examines the relationship between financial resources and electoral success among parliamentary candidates in the Dhaka Division during the 2024 Bangladesh general elections. By utilizing geospatial analysis and data from affidavits of 496 candidates, the research explores the spatial distribution of declared assets and income and assesses the impact of financial inequality on electoral outcomes. The Gini coefficient, Lorenz curve, Asset Inequality Index, and Income Inequality Index reveal significant disparities in wealth and income, with the top 10% of candidates controlling a disproportionate share of resources. The findings highlight that those candidates with greater financial assets are more likely to secure electoral victories, indicating the influence of wealth on political success. This research provides critical insights into the intersection of economic inequality and democratic processes in Bangladesh, calling for reforms in campaign finance regulations to promote transparency, fairness, and equity in elections.
