ABSTRACT: Diabetes is a disease that is increasing in its prevalence amongst Hispanics. Hispanic populations lack proper health care resources and proper awareness of what and how Diabetes effects their health. The Texas Institute of Diabetes has established a plan with a series of strategies that will improve diabetic management in the Mexican population of Texas. The plan created includes cultural competence and communication to improve the health of the Mexican population. Diabetes is a preventable disease and with proper implementation of care, education, and prevention tactics, it can be decreased in the Hispanic community.
