ABSTRACT: One of the major unresolved management problems is the failure of a significant percentage of strategy implementation efforts. Although there has been remarkable progress in strategic management, the problem of failure of strategy implementation persists. Thus, looking more closely at the reasons for failure is critical. This research study identified and reviewed the significant factors that enable or impede effective strategy implementation. There are many obstacles to successful strategy implementation. This quantitative research study identified the significant obstacles that impact strategy implementation. The research study used primary data collected through an online survey targeting managers, decision-makers, and C-level employees across the United States. It is imperative to understand whether the obstacles to strategy implementation impact small-scale and large-scale organizations similarly. Various research studies have offered opportunities to identify the obstacles and performance improvement. However, there have been contradicting recommendations and little research on large- and small-scale organizations in the United States. Setting up a global corporate strategy is only half the story; however, successfully implementing it is challenging. This research study identified the significant obstacles in strategy implementation and tried to bridge the gap between formulation and implementation. The results of this study have significant practical applicability to organizations’ strategy implementation process. This research study also included recommendations for future studies.
