ABSTRACT: This paper examines the application of language attrition theory in reforming English writing instruction. The study begins with a review of language attrition concepts and related research, focusing on the characteristics of writing skill attrition, and proposes a comprehensive teaching reform plan. The plan includes updating curricula and content, introducing flipped classroom models, developing online learning resources and question banks, and designing group collaborative activities. Notably, a structured writing manual was compiled to help students prepare for professional English exams. These innovative practices aim not only to slow down language attrition but also to cultivate students’ autonomous learning abilities and intercultural communication skills.
