ABSTRACT: The Silk Road, an ancient trade route, not only connected Asia and Europe but also served as a bridge for cultural exchange and integration between the East and the West. In the five northwestern provinces of China, the Silk Road carries a rich historical and cultural heritage and nurtures a colorful humanistic landscape. With the booming tourism industry, how to reasonably develop its tourism value while protecting these precious humanistic landscapes has become an urgent issue to be addressed. This paper will start from the current situation of the humanistic landscape of the Silk Road (Northwest Five Provinces) and explore its protection strategies and tourism development models, in order to provide beneficial references for related fields of practice and research.
