ABSTRACT: Zambia’s economy is fueled by copper production, which is one of the
country’s most important industries. In terms of copper output, Zambia has
around five large open-pit mines and eight significant underground mines.
Zambia’s Government owns a stake in some of these businesses. This article
examines the economic, social, technological, and environmental ramifications
of copper mining in the Copperbelt area of Zambia.
