ABSTRACT: This study investigates the diffusive motion of a Brownian particle in a 2D tilted periodic potential, where bias force is exerted in the x direction. The dimension effect is revealed by simulating the Langevin equation. The diffusion coefficient in x and y directions is a nonmonotonic function of the bias force, and a massive enhancement is observed in x and y directions in comparison with the case without a tilt in x direction. The underlying physical mechanism is explored.
