ABSTRACT:
Acuteleukemiaisoftenassociatedwithoralmanifestations.Wereportanacutepromyelocyticleukemia(APL)casewithoralmanifestationsleadingtothediagnosis. A21-year-oldfemale visitedourhospitalwithcomplaintsofgingivalbleedingandswellingoftheleftlowerwisdomtooth.Thepatient’scompletebloodcountrevealedamarkedincreaseinwhitebloodcellsandadecreaseinredbloodcellsandanabnormalleukocytedifferential,and APLwasdiagnosedonthebasisofbonemarrowsamples inthe internalmedicinedepartment.Thepatientwastreatedwithall-trans-retinoicacid combinedwithchemotherapyandhasmaintainedclinicalandmolecularcompleteremissionat12monthsoffollow-up. Dentalprofessionals shouldbeawareofclinicalmanifestationsandcomplicationsassociatedwith thesemalign-nantneoplasticdiseasestoaidindiagnosisandsubsequenttreatmentandmanagement.
