ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to understand how physical education teachers perceive the manifestations of exclusion in physical education classes. The study is characterized as a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers from a public school in Rio de Janeiro city. The results pointed out the occurrence of several exclusion processes with greater emphasis on those involving gender issues and ethnic-racial relations. Pieces of evidence showed that the discussion about such topics should happen more effectively and present in university curricula, especially those focused on teacher education.
