ABSTRACT: Mass attenuation coefficients have been meas-ured for rare earth compounds at photon energies 8.041, 8.907 and 13.347 keV. The measured values are compared with theoretical calculations. The agreement between experiment and theory is more than the experimental error when the incident photon energy is around the edge of the element present in the compound and agreeing with the theoretical values elsewhere. The difference in agreement between the theoretical values and experimental values is attributed to the EXAFS effects on the mass attenuation coefficient values.
