Objective: To
establish a new intervention for patients with SD, namely, GPI by TCM, from the
perspective of yin-yang syndrome differentiation and evaluate its efficacy by
random sampling. Methods: Based on cluster random sampling, 517 subjects were
tested by Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and
Hamihon Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD-17). After the screening, 239
subjects were included into the study. Then, 72 subjects were chosen randomly
and divided into two groups: Intervention group and control group. Before the
intervention, the subjects were tested by CES-D. After the intervention (8
weeks later), the subjected were tested by CES-D again. All the data were
analyzed by T-test and Rank sum test. Results: There were significant
statistical differences between the total scores of the intervention group
before and after the intervention, and between the total scores of the
intervention group and control group after the intervention. Conclusions: GPI
by TCM, which is based on supporting yang to inhibit yin, has desirable effects
on alleviating the negative mood of patients with SD.
