Abstract:

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is characterized as having motor deficits that interfere with individuals’ daily activities. It is a pervasive and enduring disorder, which persists into adulthood. Children with DCD have shown motor learning deficits in visuomotor adaptation tasks, and the failure of detecting errors seems to be the key that impedes their motor learning problems. The present study recruited young adults with and without motor difficulties and aimed to examine their adaptability in a visuomotor adaptation task. Results revealed that participants with motor difficulties showed less adaptability than controls. It can be argued that the “less defined” visuomotor mapping underlies the learning deficits in individuals with motor difficulties.
