Abstract: Using projector to dynamically project 3D virtual scene onto 2D physical plane according to people’s changing position to show life-like 3D effect is exciting. Due to the popularity of new inexpensive depth camera, we can implement such a 3D dynamic projection in a novel and cheap way. This paper demonstrates a real-time dynamic projecting method including a simple head tracking algorithm to detect and track a head only based on depth data from depth camera. According to detected head position, a view-dependent projection of a 3D scene is calculated and finally projected onto a physical plane such as desktop or wall fast and accurately. The projector-camera system enables people to watch vivid projected 3D scene while walking around.
