The level of communication network reliability directly affects the producing and operation, resource optimization, economic performance and so on. Therefore, evaluating the network has significant importance for the safety, reliability and availability of the communication network. But communication network reliability evaluation involves various evaluation indexes and different dimensions,and it is difficult to determine the weight of the evaluation norms, so the digital information of norms data can not be reflected objectively by using the common methods. In the paper, Projection Pursuit Model is applied to evaluate the reliability of communication network. This method avoids not only the influence of subjective factors, but also the problem of weight design. So it can make results more objective and reasonable. Through applying the new model to evaluating the four communication networks, and comparing with other methods, the authors gained the good results. Thus, this method is proven to be effective in practice.
