Abstract: The fault tree analysis (FTA) is an important method of analyzing reliability and safety of a system, and it combines the advantages of both qualitative and quantitative model, so it provides an effective way to find fault factors in complex systems. Through analyzed the reasons of typical faults for drilling progress, model of fault tree of drilling progress is constructed, qualitative analysis is been done and get the result of FTA, the main fault factors of drilling progress are found out. At last, corresponding corrective action is introduced to improved reliability and safety of drilling progress.
