Hybrid Multilateration and Triangulation ()
ABSTRACT
Wide
area multilateration algorithms suffer from stability issues related to the
fact that the reference points are nearly coplanar. This paper presents a
method to add elevation angle measurements to a multilateration problem and
thereby reduce the error perpendicular to the plane where the measurements are
taken. The resulting measurement error is significantly reduced for co- planar and nearly coplanar
reference points.
