ABSTRACT

A clean, simple, efficient synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes derivatives using ionic liquid 1-butyl, 3-me- thylimidazolium perchlorate ([bmim] ClO4) has been developed. The method provides several advantages such as simple work up, environmental friendliness and excellent yields in short reaction time. The ionic liquid [bmim] ClO4 used was recovered and reused for three times.
