Special Issue on Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

An infectious disease, also known as a transmissible disease or communicable disease, is an illness resulting from an infection. Infections can be caused by a wide range of pathogens, most prominently bacteria and viruses. The study of microorganisms, the most abundant living entities on Earth, aims to understand their unique biology and the influence they have on human health, disease, and life in general.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical microbiology and infection
  • Molecular biology, immunology and epidemiology
  • Pathogenesis of infectious diseases
  • Mechanisms of innate and acquired immunity
  • Viral infections
  • Bacterial infections
  • Fungal infections
  • HIV infection
  • Viral hepatitis

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
