Special Issue on
Surface Coatings: Development and Applications
A surface coating is a covering that is applied to the surface of an object, usually referred to as the substrate. In many cases coatings are applied to improve surface properties of the substrate, such as appearance, adhesion, wetability, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and scratch resistance. In other cases, in particular in printing processes and semiconductor device fabrication (where the substrate is a wafer), the coating forms an essential part of the finished product.
This special issue concerns among others with organic and inorganic coatings, surface coatings for building resto-ration and protection, for automotive applications. It concerns with nano and micro patterning on surfaces for optics and photonic applications, and coatings for bioapplications. The topic concerns also with technical approaches and processes (sol-gel process, development of polyelectrolytes films, sputter depositions among others), surface adhesion and the different characterization tools employed for the films characterization.
In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore surface coatings: development and applications.
Authors should read over the journal’s Authors' Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Surface Coatings: Development and Applications” should be chosen during your submission.
