 Special Issue on Depression

Depression is a disorder of the brain. It interferes with daily life and causes pain for both the sufferer and those who care about them. Symptoms can include sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy, change in weight, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, energy loss, feelings of worthlessness, thoughts of death or suicide. Most likely, depression is caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. It usually starts between the ages of 15 and 30, and is much more common in women. Women can also get postpartum depression after giving birth. Some people get seasonal affective disorder in the winter. There are effective treatments for depression, including medications, psychotherapies, and other methods like electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and other brain stimulation therapies.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Depression.
