Special Issue on Plant Flavonoids

Flavonoids are widely distributed in plants, fulfilling many functions. Flavonoids are the most important plant pigments for flower coloration, producing yellow or red/blue pigmentation in petals designed to attract pollinator animals. In higher plants, flavonoids are involved in UV filtration, symbiotic nitrogen fixation and floral pigmentation. They may also act as chemical messengers, physiological regulators, and cell cycle inhibitors.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring plant flavonoids. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Anthoxanthins, flavanones, flavanonols, flavans and anthocyanidins
  • Isoflavonoids
  • Biosynthesis
  • Role of flavonoids in plants
  • Flavonoid transport
  • Spectral characteristics of flavonoids
  • Metabolism of flavonoids in humans
  • Antioxidant research
  • Antibacterial activity
  • Implications for inflammation, heart disease and cancer
  • Synthesis, detection, quantification and semi-synthetic alterations

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue – Plant Flavonoids” should be selected during your submission.
