Special Issue on Soil Contamination Research

Soils can contain a wide variety of contaminants (e.g. metals, organic compounds, pharmaceuticals, nanoparticles) which, if present in excessive concentrations, may adversely affect soil function and ecosystem services. Soils also influence contamination of surface and groundwaters, by controlling the rate at which contaminants transfer. Sources of contamination include deposition from the atmosphere, old industrial sites and agricultural practices such as the spreading of sewage sludge to land. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in the area of soil contamination research.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore soil contamination research. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Soil properties
• Causes of soil pollution
• Soil carbon
• Types of contamination
• Soil contamination and health impacts
• Impacts on human health
• Monitoring on soil contamination
• Soil biodiversity and ecosystem function

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Soil Contamination Research” should be selected during your submission.
