Special Issue on Plant Genetics and Breeding

Crop breeding is the art and science of improving important agricultural plants for the benefit of humankind. Crop breeders work to make our food, fiber, forage, and industrial crops more productive and nutritious. Crops provide for an expanding global population with increasing dietary expectations. Environmental protection is also improved by the work of crop breeders. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in this area of Plant Genetics and Breeding.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore Plant Genetics and Breeding. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Efficiency of breeding techniques
  • Resistance to pests and diseases
  • Backcrossing or introgression breeding
  • Marker assisted selection
  • Reverse breeding and doubled haploids (DH)
  • Genetic modification
  • Role of plant breeding in organic agriculture
  • Diversification through breeding
