Special Issue on Aging Research

Decline in physical function is associated with falls, recurrent hospitalization, disability, and dependency and often follows a trajectory characterized by a hierarchical sequence of impairments. The identification of potentially modifiable factors that may adversely affect the slope of this trajectory is essential to inform the development of cost-effective strategies aimed at preventing or delaying dependence in older persons. Although nutrition and body composition are generally considered as important factors contributing to decline in physical function with aging, a number of emerging gaps in the current scientific knowledge still need to be addressed.

In this special issue, we are going to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore Aging Research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical, mental, and social changes in ageing population
  • Aging (ageing) process itself (biogerontology)
  • The effects of an ageing population on society
  • Regulation of ageing
  • Mechanisms of ageing and age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative  disorders   and etc
  • Anti-aging strategies
  • Cell growth and senescence
  • Modulation of DNA, DNA damage and repair
