Special Issue on Communicable Diseases
A communicable disease is a disease that is transmitted either through direct contact with an infected individual or indirectly through a vector. Methods of transmission include mucus, blood, breath, saliva and sexual contact. Because communicable diseases can have so much impact on the population, the surveillance and control of such diseases is an important part of protecting the public's health.
