Special Issue on Plants in Extreme
Environment
Our
planet has about 260,000 species or types of plants, which could be found every
where on earth. Nowadays, some plants even go to space by Space Shuttle for further
research. As environment presents lots of problems for plants, they have species-specific
adaptation mechanisms to protect themselves from extreme environment conditions
such as drought, salinity, high temperatures and so on. In response to these stresses,
stress proteins, chaperones, specific
metabolites and many other adaptation mechanisms play a significant role in survival.
As great importance to plants growth, study on plants in extreme environment shows great value and interest to researchers.
In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and
authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring plants
in extreme environment. Potential topics include, but are not
limited to:
-
Extreme environment conditions
-
Abiotic and biotic stress
-
Adaptation mechanisms of plants
-
Simultaneous adaptation
-
Genome characteristics
-
Stress proteins (LEA proteins, HSP, SP1, etc.)
-
Model plants in extreme environment
-
Space plants research
-
Differences between plants and animals in extreme environment
Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an
electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper
Submission System.
Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript
title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Plants in
Extreme Environment” should be
chosen during your submission.
