Qualifications

Marco Taddia wasborn in 1947 in S. Pietro in Casale (Bologna- Italy). He received a General Certificate of Secondary Education in Industrial Chemistry in 1966, then a Degree in Chemistry in 1971 at the University of Bologna. He started his academic activity at the "Giacomo Ciamician" Institute of Chemistry, doing research in the field of analytical chemistry, under the supervision of Prof. Pietro Lanza. In 1977 he spent a four months period in the analytical laboratory of Prof. Gordon Kirkbright (Imperial College, London) doing research in flame atomic spectroscopy. Three years later he became Researcher at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences(University of Bologna). In 1987 he was appointed Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry (University of Bologna). His teaching activity in undergraduate courses from 1987 to today includes: Quantitative Chemical Analysis, Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Methods in Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial and Process Analytical Chemistry. He reviewed the Italian translation from English of four analytical chemistry textbooks published by Zanichelli. Teaching activity in post-laureamSpecialisation Schools includes “Analytical Methodologies” and “Quality and Process Control in the Food Industry”. On behalf of the Analytical Division (Italian Society of Chemistry), he promoted and served as Chairman of the first and second edition of National School in Analytical Chemistry for PhD students (Gargnano, September 2002; Bertinoro, September 2003). His scientific production, consisting of about 50 paper, is mainly focused on topics related to the applied analytical chemistry, electroanalysis and analytical atomic spectroscopy. He developed many analytical methods for the chemical characterisation of industrial material. He served for four years as Chairman of Analytical Spectroscopy Group of the Analytical Division. He also had a long-standing interest in the history of chemistry and in the last ten years he became deeply involved in historical studies. He was invited lecturer and published over 50 papers also in this field.
