ABSTRACT: English, being the most widely spoken language in the world, is the best language carrier and medium for promoting Chinese culture to the world. Cultivating the ability of college students to use English to communicate Chinese culture to the outside world is an effective way to promote the world’s understanding of China. Considering the demands of cultivating college students’ ability to communicate Chinese culture to the whole world, this paper starts by analyzing the demand for cross-cultural communication, constructs a hierarchical model of students’ ability to communicate Chinese culture to the whole world based on their characteristics, and designs corresponding reform methods of university English course teaching according to the model. The goal is to improve students’ theoretical ability and actual language application ability through university English course teaching, thereby achieving the goal of enhancing their overall cross-cultural communication competence.
