ABSTRACT: This study explores the functional-syntactic analysis and translation of sentences involving the character “Chi” (“Eat”) in Modern Chinese. Based on the principles of functional syntax and semantics, it examines the syntactic structures and semantic variations of different types of “Chi” sentences, aiming to clarify their meanings and lay a foundation for translation studies. Through a literature review, the research investigates translation strategies for “Chi” sentences. The “Chi” sentences have various syntactic structures and diverse meanings, and they needs to be accurately translated according to different contexts. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Chinese syntactic behavior and semantic nuances, offering theoretical and practical value for improving translation accuracy and cross-cultural communication.
