ABSTRACT: Older people interacting with wearable devices have inspired many researchers to explore and contribute to a wide range of research threads. However, much of the research has focused on the technical aspects of wearable devices and there is a lack of user-centered research, and there are still many gaps in the literature on wearable device interaction for older people. In this literature review, interaction techniques for older people using wearable devices are summarized. The analysis of 115 research articles concludes that older people use smart wearables primarily to monitor health and exercise, The paper describes the development of wearable device technology, the value for older people, the types of wearable devices, interaction modes, and interaction design principles and guidelines to the elderly. It also shows the design requirements of older people for wearables and the directions designers need to take when designing for older people.
