Multimodal Treatment of Gastric Cancer: Surgery,
Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, and Timing
Stomach cancer, or gastric cancer, refers to cancer arising from any part of the stomach. Cancer of the stomach is difficult to cure unless it is found in an early stage (before it has begun to spread). Unfortunately, because early stomach cancer causes few symptoms, the disease is usually advanced when the diagnosis is made. Treatment for stomach cancer may include surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy. New treatment approaches such as biological therapy and improved ways of using current methods are being studied in clinical trials.
1.Surgery, Surgery is the most common treatment.
2.Chemotherapy, The use of chemotherapy to treat stomach cancer has no firmly established standard of care.
3.Radiation, Radiation therapy (also called radiotherapy) is the use of high-energy rays to damage cancer cells and stop them from growing.
4.Multimodality therapy, showed a survival benefit to the combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy in patients with nonmetastatic, completely resected gastric cancer.
In this special issue, we are going to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore Multimodal Treatment of Gastric Cancer: Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, and Timing.
Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission, Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal's Paper Submission System.
