Special Issue on Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is one of the most common female malignancies and cause of death among women worldwide. Even with advances in early detection methods, the mortality rate of breast cancer has remained relatively unchanged over the past several decades. Thus, there is an urgent need to identify innovative therapeutic alternatives. Cancer preventive therapy or chemoprevention describes the use of chemicals, bioactive plant compounds, or dietary com-ponents to inhibit or reverse the development and progression of cancer in normal and preneoplastic tissues. Cancer preventive therapy is considered a promising area in current cancer research. Consequently, characterization and use of effective cancer preventive agents has become an important issue in breast cancer research.
