ABSTRACT: Diabetes mellitus is an important chronic disease that affects the health of the population worldwide, causing a serious impact on patients’ quality of life and increasing the burden on the healthcare system. With the increasing number of diabetic patients, the traditional healthcare model is under tremendous pressure. In recent years, the nurse-led diabetes management model, as an innovative approach to nursing intervention, has gradually become an important part of comprehensive diabetes management. This article reviews the conceptual model, specific types of nurse-led diabetes management models, barriers faced by nurses during implementation, and corresponding strategies, with a view to providing a reference for the management of diabetic patients and the development of diabetes specialty nurses.
