ABSTRACT: This study employs the Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP) to capture the security discourse and its metaphors in Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume IV), conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Based on the framework of Critical Metaphor Analysis (CMA), the study explores the humanistic values and political implications behind the “security metaphors”. Given the highly politically oriented nature of Party materials, the study finds that diverse translation strategies need to be adopted for the metaphorical elements in security discourse to achieve precise transmission and cross-cultural adaptation of metaphors while maintaining the original political intent and contextual coherence.
