ABSTRACT: The objective of this article is to explore the impact of disasters on mental and psychosocial health and highlight the crucial role of community psychosocial support in fostering resilience. The article provides an understanding of how disasters affect psychological well-being and introduces strategies for building social cohesion and community capital, essential for resilient communities. It offers practical guidance on mobilizing communities towards psychosocial self-care, aiming to empower them to cope with and recover from the psychological impacts of disasters, thereby informing policymakers, practitioners, and researchers about effective interventions and policies to promote resilience.
