ABSTRACT: The coexistence of long range magnetic order and superconductivity in the iron pnictide superconductor SmFeAsO1-xFx is the basis for the present study that analyses theoretically the role of multiple bands on the coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AFM). For this, a model Hamiltonian is developed and using Green’s function technique, expressions for TC, TM and magnetic order parameter η are obtained. For one band, two band and three band models separately, variation of TC, TM with η is studied. Further, the coexistence region has been extracted using the above information. The results show that superconducting and AFM order can coexist in this class of superconductors and increasing the number of bands increases the coexistence region.
