Call For Papers

Special Issue on Functional Linguistics

Functionalist linguistic theory is developed on the basis of critical structuralism and transformational generative linguistics. There are two meanings of "function" here: one is the external function of language system, the other is the internal function of language unit in language structure. Functional linguistics advocates meaning rather than form as the center of linguistic research. It holds that language is a system of meaning with which form is used to embody meaning.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring functional linguistics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Discourse analysis
  • Language hierarchy
  • Register theory
  • Linguistic typology
  • Cognitive linguistics
  • Statistical linguistics
  • Psychological linguistics
  • Translation and language functions

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue – Functional Linguistics” should be chosen during your submission.
