 Special Issue on Computing

Computational science (or scientific computing) is the subfield of computer science concerned with constructing mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques and using computers to analyze and solve scientific problems. In practical use, it is typically the application of computer simulation and other forms of computation from theoretical computer science to problems in various scientific disciplines.
The field is a branch[citation needed] of computer science (the study of computation, computers and information processing) but is different from theory and experiment which are the traditional forms of science and engineering. The scientific computing approach is to gain understanding, mainly through the analysis of mathematical models implemented on computers.
Scientists and engineers develop computer programs, application software, that model systems being studied and run these programs with various sets of input parameters. Typically, these models require massive amounts of cal-culations (usually floating-point) and are often executed on supercomputers or distributed computing platforms.Numerical analysis is an important underpinning for techniques used in computational science.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Computing.

Authors should read over the journal’s Author's Guidelines carefully before submission, Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue’’ under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Computing” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:

Manuscript Due October 10th, 2012
Publication Date November, 2012

Editor-in-Chief
Prof. Chris Cannings,
University of Sheffield, UK
