Special Issue on Ion Channels

This special issue on Ion Channels will be focusing on the latest development in ion channels. Ion channels are pore-forming membrane proteins. The functions of ion channels include establishing a resting membrane potential, shaping action potentials and other electrical signals by gating the flow of ions across the cell membrane, controlling the flow of ions across secretory and epithelial cells, and regulating cell volume. Ion channels are present in the membranes of all cells and they are considered to be one of the two traditional classes of ionophoric proteins, with the other class known as ion transporters. Study of ion channels (channelomics) often includes biophysics, electrophysiology and pharmacology, utilizing techniques including voltage clamp, patch clamp, immunohistochemistry, and RT-PCR. As one of the most important research fields of human life, ion channels are of great attractions to researchers.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring ion channels. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Pore-forming membrane proteins
  • Gating the flow of ions across the cell membrane
  • Controlling the flow of ions across secretory
  • Ionophoric proteins
  • Utilizing techniques of Ion channels
  • Shaping action potentials

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the Special Issueunder your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Ion Channels” should be chosen during your submission.
