Special Issue on Abnormal Birth Weight

Birth weight is the body weight of a baby at its birth. Abnormal birth weight refers to low birth weight and macrosomia. There have been numerous studies that have attempted, with varying degrees of success, to show links between birth weight and later-life conditions, including diabetes, obesity, tobacco smoking and intelligence. And the causes of abnormal birth weight are complicated, involving parents’ physical conditions, life styles, socioeconomic factors. Figuring out the links between these causes and abnormal birth weight, will benefit maternal and fetal health and lower the risks of diseases in infant’s later-life.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring abnormal birth weight. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Causes of low birth weight
  • Causes of macrosomia
  • Negative effects of low birth weight
  • Negative effects of macrosomia
  • Diagnosis of small/large for gestational age
  • Preventions for abnormal birth weight

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Abnormal Birth Weight” should be chosen during your submission.
