Abstract: Abstract:Mt.Wutai, Mt. Putuo, Mt. Emei and Mt. Jiuhua are well-known tourist destinations with similar bases for tourism development. Since the reform and opening up began, especially in recent five years, significant differences in tourism industry scales and benefits among the four mountains have been observed. Tourism in Mt. Jiuhua and Mt. Wutai has been economic pillar in local economy; meanwhile, it has been leading industry in Mt. Emei. However, irrationally industrial structures were also the obstacles to tourism development. As for the tourist market, the key one is domestic market, inbound market is rather weak. Based on the experiences and constraints of developing tourism, sustainable development countermeasures were presented.
