Special Issue on Surface Modification
Surface Modification is refers to modify the surface of a material or workpiece by bring chemical, physical or biological characteristics different from the ones originally found on the surface of a material in order to improve the material structures and performances. The modification includes different methods such as chemical heat treatment (nitriding, carburizing and diffusion metalizing, etc.), surface coating (low pressure plasma spraying, low-tesion electric arc spraying, laser remelting, etc.), thin film coating (physical or chemical vapor deposition) and nonmetallic coating. Surface modified techniques are being used in the photovoltaics, semiconductor, biomedical industry, aerospace, oil&gas and architectural industry. It can be used to develop a wide range of new characteristics attached to the substrate surfaces, which including temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, anti-fatigue, anti-radiation, electric conduction and magnetic conduction. This special issue will be focused on studying different kinds of surface modification and their applications.
In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring surface modification. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
-
Technology of surface modification (High energy beam, Vapor deposition, Recombination, etc.)
-
Micro-fabrication and nanometer technique
-
Test and control of surface modification
-
Fiber surface modification
-
Development of surface modification
-
Equipment of surface modification
-
Application of surface modification
-
Analysis of surface modification
Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Surface Modification” should be chosen during your submission.
